Best of 2023 - Album List

Depeche Mode - Memento Mori [Columbia] Depeche Mode released their 15th studio album Memento Mori on Columbia in spring this year. The album was promoted with the first single ‘Ghost Again’. This is the first album that Depeche Mode released as a duo following the departure of Andy Fletcher in 2022. In reference to this, there is a death theme dominant on this record, not only as a memorial to Fletcher, but moreover the global tragedies that humanity has faced with Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine. The song structure ranges from the classic DM electro pop track to more industrial and experimental instances here and there. Once again Depeche Mode shows that even though the recent albums in the last two decades might not have lived up to the standard, this album shows that they are far from being less relevant as the global music factor.         Glüme - Main Character Glüme emerged during the Corona times even though some sources mention that she has been in the mu...

Retrovision: Tricky - Black Steel

Black Steel was one of the most successful single release for Tricky during the 90's. The song was a cover version of Public Enemy's Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos and performed by Martina Topley Bird. Mothermary were already around for three years now and it is in this catastrophic times that the duo caught our attention. They are twins, Elyse and Larena and as they say on their website, they left religion (Mormon upbringing) and decided to do music together. Their base in the last few years seems to have been NYC and this is also where they create their specific art form of electropop. So far they have released the debut EP 'Not a Virgin' and their brand new single/video for the song "Catch Fire" is out now on Italians Do It Better.

For each artist we will also set up a playlist on YouTube that encompasses their complete body of work as documented with music videos and live performances.
